The Princess is here!!!!

Paige Kathryn Uhlis

I was induced at 41 weeks. They started around 8pm and by the morning I was having contractions on my own, but had only dilated 1cm. They broke my water and started the pitocin and by 5pm, I was still only 3cm. Her heart rate would drop everytime they made me flip to my right side and they would have to stop the pitocin, put me on oxygen and have me flip back to my left. After 3 cycles of this, we began to worry about the safety of my baby girl. We discussed our options with the midwife and she told us that the chances of a natural delivery were slim to none so we decided it was best to go with a c-section than risk harming our baby girl. I was prepped and wheeled in to the O.R. within 30 minutes. Sweet Baby Paige was born at 6:07pm weighing a whopping 9lbs and measuring 21 1/2 inches long. I remember the first thing out of the doctor's mouth was "she's huge!" and then other comments followed about what a chunkster she was. I heard her first cry and I broke down-I was sobbing. It's odd how beautiful that noise is and the overwhelming wave of emotions that come over you in that moment...unforgettable. Kyle went with her to the nursery and came back to tell me what a big baby we had! I couldn't believe that I had such a chunkster at my size-I was only 6lb 4oz when I was born. She scored a 9 on her APCAR and was given a clean bill of health!

We've started to settle in as a new little family, and it's been wonderful. The pups were ignoring her, but have now started to take an interest...mainly due to jealousy! Kyle is so wonderful with her-she's got him wrapped already. I can't stop kissing her sweet lil' cheeks and hugging her. We are so blessed to have this gorgeous healthy princess! Now I'm off to spend some time with her!
